granulated sugar

packed brown sugar

large egg

Sugar Coating

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
In another bowl, cream butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in the egg and vanilla until well combined.
Add dry ingredients gradually and mix until a soft dough forms.
In a small bowl, mix sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for coating.
Roll dough into balls and coat in sugar mixture.
Place on baking sheet and bake 9–11 minutes.
Cool 2–3 minutes on pan before moving to a rack.
Notes
Makes 18 to 24 cookies. Serve warm with milk or coffee. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
